Released: Feb 2014

Massaging seats are just one of the comforts drivers and adult passengers will be able to enjoy when Citroen’s new Grand C4 Picasso arrives in early 2014. The futuristic seven-seater is based on the Technospace concept from the 2013 Geneva motor show and features a 2840mm wheelbase that Citroen claims is the longest in its segment.

Released: Jul 2012

Citroen's all-new city-SUV is based on Mitsubishi's ASX, rather than the C4 hatchback and will be the French brand's first SUV in Australia. Petrol and diesel models with a choice of front-drive or all-wheel-drive will be available in Europe, although Australian specifications are not yet clear.

Released: Jun 2012

Similar in concept to the higher-riding DS4 hatch, the DS5 is even more adventurous in comparison to its donor model, featuring complex body-side surfacing and a high, sweeping roofline. Citroen says the DS5 will offer five seats, a driving position “worthy of a gran turismo coupé” and “all the access and modularity of a hatchback.

Released: Feb 2012

Citroen's Audi A3 competitor will be an all-turbo line-up in Australia, starting with a 115kW/240Nm 1.6-litre petrol engine – codenamed THP 115 and shared with the C4 donor car – before stepping up to the high-performance THP 200, with 147kW and 275NM.

Released: Feb 2012

January will see an update to the Citroen C4 Picasso, which will receive a $2000 price drop when it gets a refreshed front-end and a 20kW boost (up from 100kW) for its economical four-cylinder diesel engine.

Released: Nov 2011

Citroen’s conservatively redesigned small car is 50mm longer, 20mm wider and 30mm taller than the boldly-styled outgoing model. Featuring the French maker’s automatic transmission substitute, the Electronic Gearbox System (EGS), the new C4 will be powered by Citroen’s new ‘micro-hybrid e-HDi’ powertrains, which incorporate an idle-stop system to reduce CO2 emissions.

Released: Aug 2011

The upgraded C5 represents a midlife makeover for the French brand’s mid-size sedan and wagon range. Citroen will stick with 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel variants for both the C5 sedan and Tourer in Australia.

Citroen’s all-new Mark II five-door C3 will arrive in the third quarter of 2010. The company expects to tick the boxes on a similar three-model, three-engine range as the first generation. With its ground-breaking ‘high forehead’ Zenith windscreen, increased roominess and new levels of refinement.

Released: Sep 2010

Citroen will launch its DS3 range by mid-2010. Australia will be offered the 82kW 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine and the 112kW turbo-petrol engine. Both will be available here with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Priced from $30,000, the DS3 competes directly with BMW’s Mini and Fiat's 500.

Citroen's upgraded C5 is due locally in early 2010. It is expected to gain minor trim, equipment & powertrain upgrades. A new 2.0 diesel and 3.0 V6 will be introduced, the diesel unit meeting Euro V emission standards.

Citroen is expected to launch its all-new Berlingo small commercial van here in late 2008. Initially to be available as a diesel only, with a petrol variant to follow, the new Berlingo will come in both short and long-wheelbase guises and will be sold beside the smaller existing Berlingo until around mid-2009.

Citroen will unveil the all-new C5 internationally at the 2008 Paris motor show. Rumoured to be roomier, it should come with stylistic elements from Citroen’s well-received C-SportLounge concept car. The MkII C5 will be offered in five-door hatchback (dubbed sedan) and wagon guises.

Released: Mar 2008

A five-seat version of the C4 Picasso is under consideration, although Australian importer Ateco plans to assess the new seven-seater’s sales performance in Australia before a decision is made. If the five-seater C4 Picasso gets the green light, we could see it by about March 2008.

Released: Mar 2008

Citroen is not ignoring its volume-selling C4 hatchback model and plans to adopt the C4 Picasso’s 2.0-litre HDi turbo-diesel engine and six-speed automatic gearbox to consolidate sales of the existing C4 1.6 HDi. A local release is expected in the final quarter of 2007.

Released: Nov 2007

On the commercial vehicle front, Citroen has tried for some time to add a turbo-diesel engine to its steady-selling Berlingo light van. A range of 1.8 to 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines are available to it, so expect a local release by around late 2007.

Model: C3 - 1.6 HDi

Released: Oct 2007

Citroen will launch a new 1.6 HDi 16V turbo-diesel engine to its C3 model range in late 2007. With approximately 82kW of power and 230Nm of torque, it is expected to accelerate the C3 from rest to 100km/h in under 10 seconds. Power is fed via a five-speed manual transmission.

Model: C4 Picasso

Released: May 2007

Citroen’s mini people-mover masterpiece, the C4 Picasso, boasts seating for up to seven and goes on sale here in the first quarter of 2007. Powered by either a 106kW 2.0-litre petrol four or a frugal 102kW 2.0-litre HDi diesel, the C4 Picasso drives through the front wheels via a new six-speed auto.

Released: Oct 2006

Citroen's first large luxury car in more than six years arrives in October as the French maker's first $100,000 model. For $97,500, the C6 sedan comes with a huge standard specification list and a 155kW/290Nm 3.0-litre petrol V6. The 150kW/440Nm 2.7-litre twin turbo-diesel HDi V6 costs $103,500.

Released: Mar 2005

An all-new model to replace and the six-year-old Xsara range, the three and five-door C4 hatch will target the likes of 307, Megane, Astra and Golf. To share its floorpan, suspension and engines with Peugeot 307, C4 will go on sale here in March 2005, available in 1.6 and 2.0-litre versions from around $26K.

Released: Oct 2004

Citroen Australian has already imported a limited run of 25 examples of its C3-based C2 hot hatches, priced at $22,990. However, it won't become freely available until October, when the youth-oriented three-door four-seater should line up here alongside the five-door C3 in 80kW 1.6-litre Sensodrive VTR form.

Released: Oct 2004

Strong demand in Europe for the C3 Pluriel means the pint-sized convertible won't go on sale here until around October 2004, in 1.6 SensoDrive guise. The three-door, four-seater - with removeable roof, full-length sunroof and tailgate - will be priced below the successful Peugeot 206CC at around $35,000.

Model: Xsara - Picasso

Released: Oct 2004

Finally arriving in Australia many months after its intended on-sale date, the facelifted Xsara-based Picasso people-mover (or monospace, as the Europeans like to call them) will lob around October 2004 with 2.0-litre petrol power. Auto will be the only transmission available and, alas, there will be no diesel either.

Citroen's volume selling small car will come in for a facelift, to go on sale here in October. Expect new front and rear styling (pictured) - including a new front bumper with integrated fog lamps (depending on the level of trim), wider lower air intake and chromed grille - plus a revised interior.
