Honda will return to the supercar arena with a hybrid-powered NSX supercar that will serve as spiritual successor to the 1990s original that was developed with the help of F1 ace Ayrton Senna. On the concept unveiled at the 2012 Detroit show a 230kW 3.5-litre V6 combined with a 30kW electric motor to drive the rear wheels through Honda’s first seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The facelifted Jazz could be released here with 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre four-cylinder engines, the latter available with an optional continuously variable transmission (CVT). The top-spec Jazz is likely to be offered with optional leather upholstery and a number of other premium touches like chromed ings for the air-vents, instruments, climate controls and dashboard.

Honda hopes to hit the mainstream with its Prius-rivalling Insight hybrid, which it has announced will go on sale at $29,990 (about $10,000 less than the Prius). That said, it cannot match the Toyota's efficiency, with a fuel consumption figure of 4.6L/100km (Prius: 3.9L/100km) and CO2 emissions of 109g/km (versus 89g/km).

Honda revealed an all-new Odyssey at the 2003 Tokyo show, and it’s due on sale here in mid-2004. Expect a 118kW/220Nm 2.4-litre i-VTEC base engine with seven-speed CVT gearbox, for under $50,000.

Honda will launch a facelifted Civic sedan in March, including a new petrol-electric hybrid version for the first time.
