Malaysian marque Proton is gearing up to launch its compact Exora people-mover - a first for the brand's Australian subsidiary. Mixing fertility with frugality courtesy of a small four-cylinder engine, the Exora will likely undercut the cheapest MPVs currently on-sale when it launches in October.

A stylish small sedan is the latest model to be added to Malaysian brand Proton’s Australian line-up when it arrives in August 2012. The Prevé will feature a choice of naturally aspirated and turbocharged 1.6 litre 4-cylinder engines.

Released: Dec 2010

Lotus is expected to launch its Satria Neo RS Lotus Racing special edition model locally by December 2010. It will feature styling , aerodynamic and power upgrades. Powered by a 108kW/168Nm 1.6-litre DOHC four, the Satria RS sprints 0 to 100km in 9.2 seconds.

Proton will extend on its bumper 2010 new model launch with a third quarter release of an ‘LE’ manual and auto versions of the 1.6-litre Persona due locally in August. An upgrade in specification and interior/exterior trim, are expected.

Released: Mar 2009

Fans of the original Satria GTi will have to wait until early 2009 for a successor to the hot-hatch that put Malaysia’s national car-maker on the automotive map in the late 1990s. Expect a four-cylinder engine offering more than 160kW, plus a host of other upgrades for the all-new Satria.

Released: May 2008

Proton’s new Persona small car is built on a unique platform, but remains essentially a sedan version of the Gen.2. Similar in size to the Mazda3 sedan and with a big 430-litre boot, it will come with dual airbags, ABS, power windows and parking sensors as standard. Expect it here mid 2008.

Proton exhibited its new-generation three-door Satria hatch at the 2006 Sydney motor show. On sale from February priced from around $17,990, the new Satria is the last of the company’s first wave of "self-designed" cars, following the Gen.2 and Savvy. Expect an 82kW/148Nm 1.6-litre DOHC four.

Malaysian maker Proton will use an all-new Wira, codenamed Wira Replacement Model, to revitalise its flagging range around June 2004. As this spy pic shows, Wira's successor will offer more style via a Hyundai Coupe-like tail and two-tone dash. Expect 1.6 and 1.8-litre engines.
