Mini’s Paceman crossover coupe gets the John Cooper Works treatment mid year, with the all-wheel drive JCW variant getting the same 160kM/280Nm 1.6-litre turbo engine as the Countryman JCW. It will be mated to a six-speed manual or optional six-speed auto with paddle shifters and race from 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds.

Mini’s Paceman ‘Sports Activity Vehicle’ will land in March with two petrol-powered variants only, the Cooper and Cooper S. The Paceman is a sporty three-door version of the Countryman SUV on which it is based and will start at around $35,000 for the Cooper 1.6-litre turbo, while the Cooper S will get a more powerful version of the same engine for around $44,000.

Mini’s high-riding Countryman crossover is getting the John Cooper Works treatment and Australia will get a taste in the last quarter of 2012. The hotted-up Mini will come with an optional six-speed steptronic automatic transmission and will race to 100km/h in 7.0 seconds.

BMW’S Roadster is expected to go into production alongside the Coupe in early 2012. Just as the pre-revealed Coupe has done, the Roadster has an unmistakable Mini flavour to its design and a sporting character with its fabric roof. The Roadster relies on the 128kW/240Nm Cooper S engine.

BMW-owned British brand Mini will launch a JCW version of the Mini Cabrio in late 2009. Priced from $56,990, and powered by a 155kW iteration of the BMW Group’s 1.6-litre twin-scroll turbo four. The JCW Cabrio comes as standard with a six-speed manual transmission with a claimed 0-100km/h sprint in 6.9 seconds.

Mini's green machine will undercut the price of small hybrids when it goes on sale. Powered by a direct-injection 80kW/240Nm 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine, BMW claims the Cooper D is Australia’s cleanest car, with CO2 emissions of 104g/km. It will also be the first non-hybrid with idle-stop engine technology.
