Infiniti plans to grow its line-up in the coming years to include a number of smaller models, including a BMW 1 Series and Audi A3 luxury hatch rival. Taking its cues from the Etherea concept that debuted at the 2011 Geneva motor show, the C-segment car will be based on the same MFA platform that underpins the Mercedes-Benz A- and B-Class.

Fledgling luxury brand Infiniti will launch its hulking, polarizing QX80 SUV in the second half of the year, pitching it is a natural rival for the Lexus LX. The QX80 will feature the same 5.6-litre petrol V8 engine as the Nissan Patrol on which it is based, as well as a spacious seven-seat layout.

Japanese luxury brand Infiniti will add some firepower to its local line-up late in 2014 with the arrival of the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol version of the mid-size Q50 sedan. The petrol powertrain will arrive about 10 months after the launch of the turbo-diesel and petrol-electric hybrid variants that went on sale in February.

Formerly known as the G sedan, the Q50 will boost Japanese premium brand Infiniti’s presence in Australia when it launches locally in late 2013. The BMW 3 Series competitor will be available with a choice of either a 244kW 3.7-litre Nissan V6 or a petrol-electric hybrid combining a 3.5-litre V6 and an electric motor pumping out a combined output of 263kW.

The Infiniti M luxury sedan will be one of the founding members of the Infiniti range in the brand's second coming to Australia, made possible because of the right-hand drive engineering for the UK market.
