In February Lexus will release their GS F, aimed squarely at the BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63. The F will be powered by a 5.0L naturally aspirated V8, which will produce roughly 350kW of power.

Released: Dec 2015

Lexus' GS sedan will receive a light facelift in December, with a bolder front end more in line with new Lexus products. It will also get a new 4-cylinder turbocharged entry level variant.

Released: May 2012

Promising 18 per cent better fuel economy and CO2 output than the previous hybrid GS (sipping 6.3L/100km and emitting 145g/km) the new GS450h will get a revised 213kW 3.5-litre direct-injected Atkinson cycle V6 mated with the latest hybrid drive system for a combined 252kW of power and 345Nm of torque.

Lexus will launch its BMW 5 Series-rivalling GS line-up in April 2012, with the 3.5-litre V6-powered GS350 and GS350 F Sport the first two variants to hit market.

Released: Oct 2010

Lexus officials have stated that the GS large sedan - powered by the IS-F’s 5.0-litre V8 and badged as the GS-F – is likely to be the next ‘F’ badged model to reach Australia. Expect a 5.0-litre DOHC V8 that produces more than 300kW/474Nm, mated to the LS460's eight-speed automatic.

Released: Jan 2008

To keep the GS range fresh, a minor facelift is expected in 2008. The LS460’s 4.6-litre V8, complete with its world-first eight-speed automatic, will be slotted into the current GS. The new GS460’s expected 280kW/493Nm powerplant should give the V8 a performance edge over the hybrid GS.

Released: Mar 2005

Lexus showed its third-generation GS medium sedan at Detroit 04, following the LF-S concept at Tokyo 03. Larger than the six-year-old GS300, the coupe-like sedan features all-wheel drive on some models (but not Australian ones), a new 3.0 V6 and a GS430 V8 model. Priced from around $100,000.
