Model: A8 - S8

Released: Jan 2007

Audi's new-generation S8 super-limo marks the first V10 for the Volkswagen luxury brand. Borrowed from sister company Lamborghini's Gallardo, it adds FSI direct injection to produce 331kW and 540Nm, shading the similarly-powered S6 to blast to 100km/h in a claimed 5.1 seconds.

Model: Grand Scenic

Released: Jan 2007

Renault will release the bigger seven-seat version of its Scenic people-mover in early 2007. Grand Scenic power comes from a 2.0-litre four driving the front wheels.

Model: Europa - S

Released: Jan 2007

Lotus revealed its two-seater Europa S, the British sports car maker's new flagship coupe and the Lotus answer to Porsche’s Cayman, at the 2006 Sydney show. It's due on sale in late January, priced at $109,990 in manual-only guise.

Make: Volvo

Model: S40 - D5

Released: Jan 2007

Volvo Cars Australia has added the 2.4-litre D5 turbo-diesel engine to the compact S40 sedan and V50 wagon range to supplement the petrol engines, with pricing starting around $44,000. Volvo announced its 3 Series, C-class and A4-matching S40/V50 turbo-diesels at the 2006 Sydney motor show.

Released: Jan 2007

Volkswagen's British luxury brand brings a host of updates to its flagship sedan for the 2007 model year, with the Arnage range offering more power and torque from its twin-turbo 6.75-litre V8, plus a host of safety, equipment, and design updates both inside and out.

Model: S80

Released: Jan 2007

Volvo's redesigned S80 sedan flagship goes on sale in early 2007, initially powered by either a Yamaha-built 235kW/440Nm 4.4-litre V8 (as first seen in the revised XC90) and a 136kW/400Nm 2.4-litre turbo-diesel. Prices start from $71,950 for the D5, rising to $95,950 for the V8, with a 175kW/320Nm 3.2-litre alloy six to join the range in mid-2007 for about $80,000.

Model: A4 - RS4 Cabriolet / Avant

Released: Jan 2007

Audi's wicked new RS4 Cabriolet will join its sedan and Avant (wagon) stablemates on sale in the first quarter of 2007. Just 25 examples will be available, at $187,500 apiece. Audi’s hottest ever cabrio is powered by the same 309kW/430Nm 4.2-litre V8 that motivates the RS4 sedan and wagon.

Volvo's redesigned C70 hits Oz in mid-December, replacing both coupe and cabriolet versions of its current namesake. Volvo's first folding metal-roofed convertible will open at $69,950 for the 125kW/230Nm 2.4-litre inline alloy five-cylinder LE. The $79,950 T5 gets a 162kW 2.5-litre turbo five-cylinder.

Mitsubishi’s redesigned Outlander compact SUV will go on sale in December, offering seating for up to seven, a 127kW/230Nm 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine mated to a new six-speed CVT and a 150kW/352Nm 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine to be launched in the first quarter 2007.

Model: Continental - GTC

Released: Jan 2007

Bentley has introduced the soft-top convertible version of its mid-sized Continental Down Under, priced at $399,500. Under the bonnet driving all four wheels via a six-speed auto is the same 411kW/650Nm twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine that powers the GT coupe and Flying Spur sedan.

Model: 300C - SRT-8 Touring

Released: Jan 2007

Chrysler Australia will bolster the 300C Touring range in 2007 with the addition of a 317kW SRT8 version. With a 6.1-litre HEMI V8 engine, performance-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes and 20-inch alloy SRT wheels, the SRT-8 Touring has the performance to match its mumbo.

Model: X3

Released: Jan 2007

BMW’s facelifted X3 adopts a revised exterior and an overhauled cabin. The interior revisions include a new centre console, new trim and new instruments - along with BMW’s new series of Valvetronic inline-six petrol engines, in 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre form, and a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo-diesel.
