Model: Range Rover

Released: May 2007

Land Rover will introduce the TDV8 Range Rover Sport in June, featuring an all-new lightweight 200kW/640Nm 3.6-litre turbo-diesel V8, matched to a six-speed ZF automatic transmission. Large Brembo brakes are standard, as is Land Rover’s Terrain Response system with electronic rear diff.

Make: Toyota

Model: Corolla

Released: May 2007

Toyota's next-generation Corolla will have a cleaner, more efficient and more powerful 1.8-litre four-cylinder when it reaches Australia in April. To be based on the Auris concept, expected the all-new Corolla to be sourced from Japan, with both the sedan and uniquely styled hatch avaliable from launch.

Make: Audi

Model: Allroad

Released: May 2007

THE Q7 may be the new kid on the block but the A6-based Allroad quattro arrives around March. Expected to be offered as a turbo-diesel only, the talk is it will be the 3.0-litre TDi but the 2.7TDi may also be a possibility. Prices should put it under the Q7, which starts at $84,900

Make: HSV

Model: Grange

Released: May 2007

The redesigned HSV luxury flagship based on Holden's WM Statesman/Caprice will go on sale early 2007 priced under $100,000. Powered by the new E Series SWB sedan's 307kW/550Nm LS2 V8, HSV claims the new Grange will be "one of the fastest luxury/sports limousines in the world".

Make: Toyota

Model: LandCruiser 78

Released: May 2007

Toyota's 25-year-old LandCruiser workhorse range gets a lift in mid-2007 when the 78-Series Troop Carrier wagon and 79-Series cab-chassis utility (and a new five-door/five-seat wagon based on the same leaf-sprung ladder frame) appear with a 4.5-litre turbo-diesel V8 offering about 195kW and 620Nm.

Make: Nissan

Model: 350Z

Released: May 2007

An upgraded 350Z hits Australia around mid-2007. It gains an 80 per cent-new 230kW VQ35HR 3.5-litre V6 engine. Visually, Nissan has not tampered too much with the 350Z’s exterior. The aluminium bonnet gains a “power bulge” and there are clear-lens LED tail-lights.

Make: Chrysler

Model: Sebring

Released: May 2007

Chrysler has confirmed the Sebring mid-size sedan will be launched Down Under in mid-2007, as a rival for up market mid-size sedans like Honda's Accord. Three engines (a 124kW/220Nm 2.4-litre four, a 140kW/259Nm 2.7-litre V6 and a 103kW/310Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel) will be offered.

Make: Volkswagen

Model: Golf - GT

Released: May 2007

Volkswagen will introduce the Golf GT variant in May, powered by a 125kW/240Nm supercharged and turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine dubbed the TSI Twincharger. It will be positioned between Golf’s Sportline and GTI variants, at about $36,000.

Make: Holden

Model: Epica

Released: May 2007

GM Daewoo’s Magnus medium sedan replacement, the Epica (nee Tosca concept), becomes Holden's first real Camry rival in May. Two six-cylinder engines are available: a 104kW 2.0-litre or a 115kW 2.5-litre, with fuel consumption as low as 8.2L/100km. It's priced from $26,990.

Make: Citroen

Model: C4 Picasso

Released: May 2007

Citroen’s mini people-mover masterpiece, the C4 Picasso, boasts seating for up to seven and goes on sale here in the first quarter of 2007. Powered by either a 106kW 2.0-litre petrol four or a frugal 102kW 2.0-litre HDi diesel, the C4 Picasso drives through the front wheels via a new six-speed auto.
