Make: Mercedes-Benz

Model: C-Class - Estate

Released: Apr 2008

Mercedes-Benz will extend its fourth-generation W204 C-class sedan range with an all-new wagon at the 2007 Frankfurt motor show. Australian buyers will have to wait until mid-2008. The wagon will be a significantly more involving to drive than its predecessor, yet boasts greater cargo capacity.

Make: Ford

Model: Escape

Released: Apr 2008

Ford's 2008 Escape gains only minor exterior and interior updates. There will be an upgraded 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine only, with the V6 option being discontinued. Expect an Australian on-sale by mid-2008.

Make: Lexus

Model: LX

Released: Apr 2008

Expect the 2007 Detroit show to host the debut of a redesigned LX luxury SUV flagship, based on the all-new 200-Series LandCruiser but offering greater differentiation than the current LX470 does. It's due on sale here by April 2008, powered by a bigger new V8.

Make: Subaru

Model: Liberty - GT Spec B

Released: Apr 2008

Subaru revealed a limited-edition Liberty GT Spec B, tuned by STi, available as a sedan or wagon and with a manual or automatic transmission, at the 2008 Melbourne International Motor show. The cars have 194kW and 350Nm, 18-inch Enkei alloy wheels, sports suspension and an STi body kit.

Make: Chrysler

Model: Voyager

Released: Apr 2008

The 2007 Detroit motor show previewed the new Chrysler Voyager people-mover, which arrives here early in May 2008 with a range of petrol and turbo-diesel engines. Expect the redesigned luxury MPV to offer more safety features and better value.

Make: Audi

Model: A5

Released: Apr 2008

An A5 price-leader in the form of the 1.8T will be launched in April 2008, powered by a turbocharged 125kW-1.8-litre FSI four-cylinder engine driving through a multitronic CVT, and priced from $70,000 to $75,000. A Tiptronic semi-automatic will add $4000 to the price.

Make: Subaru

Model: Forester

Released: Apr 2008

Subaru will launch the third generation of its top-selling model, the compact Forester SUV. This model could benefit from input by Toyota, which bought an 8.7 per cent stake in Subaru's parent company Fuji Heavy Industries last year, when General Motors sold its 20 per cent share.

Model: Hilux - TRD

Released: Apr 2008

Toyota will aim at the likes of Commodore SS and Falcon XR utes with the HiLux TRD, which will be powered by a version of the Aurion TRD’s 240kW-plus blown V6. Expected to debut mid 2008 as the second TRD-tuned model from Toyota.
