Released: Dec 2010

Honda hopes to hit the mainstream with its Prius-rivalling Insight hybrid, which it has announced will go on sale at $29,990 (about $10,000 less than the Prius). That said, it cannot match the Toyota's efficiency, with a fuel consumption figure of 4.6L/100km (Prius: 3.9L/100km) and CO2 emissions of 109g/km (versus 89g/km).

Model: A1

Released: Dec 2010

Audi used the 2008 Paris motor show to present the “A1 Sportback concept study”, which is a five-door body style derivative of the upcoming A1. The A1 will spawn a new compact model family that comprises three and five-door hatch, high-performance S1 and RS1 versions and perhaps even a new baby convertible.

Model: Caddy

The GP-series Caddy will adopt a Golf/Polo-inspired nose treatment complete with daytime running lights, as well as a comprehensive interior overhaul, redesigned wheel trims and different colours. Expect fresh direct-injection Euro 5-emissions rated four-cylinder drivetrains, with forced-induction petrol and diesel engines and DSG dual-clutch transmission choices.

Model: Pathfinder - Ti 550

The range-topping Pathfinder Ti 550 will bring class-leading performance to the Nissan stable thanks to the new V9X engine, which comes as a result of Nissan’s alliance with Renault and offers 170kW of power at 3750rpm and 550Nm of torque from just 1750rpm.

Model: IS - 350

Released: Dec 2010

Lexus has confirmed it will import a 3.5-litre V6 version of its entry-level IS sedan to Australia. 228kW and 375Nm of torque will find their way to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Model: Satria - Neo RS Lotus Racing

Released: Dec 2010

Lotus is expected to launch its Satria Neo RS Lotus Racing special edition model locally by December 2010. It will feature styling , aerodynamic and power upgrades. Powered by a 108kW/168Nm 1.6-litre DOHC four, the Satria RS sprints 0 to 100km in 9.2 seconds.

Model: XJ - XJR

Released: Dec 2010

An even higher-performance version of Jaguar’s latest direct-injection, supercharged V8 – with power and torque to eclipse the 375kW/625Nm outputs of the XFR, XKR and XJ Supersports is expected to power the new XJR.

Model: Q7

Audi's Q7 gets a brace of new engines for its midlife revamp, with an eight-speed automatic replacing the six-speed unit on all but the flagship V12 TDI. Along with cosmetic chages, there's a second-generation 3.0 TDI V6 and one of two new supercharged 3.0-litre ’TFSI’ petrol V6s replace the current 4.2 FSI V8.
