Polestar’s latest coupe-SUV slots between the 2 and 3 both in terms of size and price. It has windowless rear-end, dual blade headlights, retractable door handles, flush DLO with frameless door glass, rear aero blades, and rear light bar in single- and dual-motor versions.

For 2025, the entry-grade X3 20 xDrive adds an all-wheel drive chassis and mild hybrid driveline technology to the range, combining a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt technology to deliver 140kW of power (+5kW) and 310Nm of torque (+10Nm).

The 2500kg all-wheel drive M5 is cheaper and more powerful than its predecessor. The larger model offers plug-in hybrid driveline technology with a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine and an electric motor combining to provide a total of 535kW/1000Nm.

Only 50 examples of this GT3 inspired model will make it here with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine – shared with track-focused models – giving the M4 CS the same 405kW/650Nm output as the CSL, and a 15kW bump over the M4 Competition Coupe.

A midlife update sees the entry-grade 220i dropped from the range, which now begins with the 230i. All BMW 2 Series variants gain equipment including heated front seats with lumbar support, parking assistance technology, and tyre pressure monitoring.

Toyota’s GR 86 undergoes a mild updated including the introduction of a Limited Edition variant. Changes include multiple mechanical and dynamic enhancements, revised throttle mapping, omission of the engine’s ignition delay control system, and retuned steering.

New four variant all-electric Macan is the best electric SUV on the market, says Porsche, topped by the all-out Macan Turbo which produces a dizzying 470kW/1130Nm “setting a real benchmark in the segment”, precisely where the company wants to be with Macan.

Peugeot’s 308 GT Hybrid hatch replaces the PHEV variant as the French brand electrifies in Australia. Power is from a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine hooked up to an electric traction motor driving the front wheels through a revised six-speed DCT.

The SE is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of Lamborghini’s family-focused Urus SUV with a 456kW/800Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 attached to a 141kW/483Nm electric motor – for a combined 588kW/950Nm – mated to an all-new all-wheel drive system.

The Daily 4x4 is revised for 2025 with new front suspension, additional kit and comfort features while retaining its well-known off-road capabilities. Changes mirror those from the 4x2 variant last year including Euro 6 emissions compliance.
