A facelifted Aurion is set to arrive at about the same time the final Aussie-built Camry will hit market. Keeping things fresh for the Toyota sedan will be revised styling as well as changes to increase occupant comfort.

The next-generation Toyota Aurion will get a more upmarket interior and power and torque output from the 3.5-litre petrol V6 will remain at 200kW/336Nm. But a 50kg weight saving and improved engine efficiency will reduce fuel consumption to 9.3L/100km.

Toyota is expected to introduce its facelifted Aurion range in September 2009. The revised Aurion is likely to include new headlights, different grille and front bumper and revised tail-light lenses, and fresh wheel covers. Engine & transmission will be unchanged.

The Aurion large sedan will be the first vehicle to get the Toyota Racing Development treatment, but its release has been delayed until around August. Expect the front-drive Aurion TRD to feature a 240kW supercharged version of Aurion's 3.5-litre V6, sports suspension and a bodykit.

Codenamed 323L, Aurion will be powered exclusively by a 3.5-litre DOHC V6 that will deliver in excess of 190kW, giving it the upper hand on Ford’s BF Falcon and, possibly, Holden’s VE Commodore. Replacing Avalon, Aurion will be Toyota Australia's most serious shot at large sixes like Commodore and Falcon.
