A cracking V6 version of the third-generation RAV4 is expected to be launched around September 2007. Already on sale in the US, the six-speed auto-equipped RAV4 will become the fourth model in Toyota's range to offer 3.5-litre V6 power. Expect a seven-seat version to rival Outlander (and Kluger).

Released: Feb 2007

Toyota's first ever V6 Tarago arrives on sale here in February 2007. The 3.5-litre V6 develops 206kW at 6200rpm and 344Nm at 4700rpm and is mated to a newly developed six-speed sequential automatic. Vehicle stability control will be standard but expect even higher pricing than the four-cylinder Tarago.

Codenamed 323L, Aurion will be powered exclusively by a 3.5-litre DOHC V6 that will deliver in excess of 190kW, giving it the upper hand on Ford’s BF Falcon and, possibly, Holden’s VE Commodore. Replacing Avalon, Aurion will be Toyota Australia's most serious shot at large sixes like Commodore and Falcon.

Toyota's locally-built Avalon large sedan comes in for its first full facelift to keep Avalon sales ticking over until an all-new model in 2006.
