Ford has confirmed April as the on-sale date for its long-awaited light car, the Fiesta. The all-new, Euro-built hatch range will comprise a three or five-door Fiesta LX, a three-door Fiesta Zetec and five-door Fiesta Ghia, each with a 74kW 1.6. Pricing opens at $14,490, but air adds $2000 and auto $3000.

First deliveries of the 406km/h AWD supercar from born-again VW brand Bugatti have been delayed until April 2004, because it was deemed too racecar-like. No wonder, given the left-hand drive-only Veyron 16/4's 750kW 1250Nm 8.0-litre W16 good for 0-100km/h in 2.9 sec. Just 300 will be built.

It won't be as sweet as Mazda Australia's locally developed MX-5 SP turbo was, but the first factory MX-5 turbo's 121kW/206Nm will still be a fitting swansong for the world's top-selling sportscar, which is due for replacement in 2005. On sale from late March or April at $45,490, it will be known as MX-5 SE here.
