Released: Aug 2013

Audi’s third-generation RS6 Avant will storm into Australian showrooms in late 2013 with a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.9 seconds. The performance wagon will be powered by a tweaked version of Audi’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with 412kW of power between 5700 and 6700rpm and 700Nm of torque between 1750 and 5500rpm.

Released: May 2013

Audi will add a potent twin-turbo 3.0-litre Biturbo diesel to its A6 range in 2013 and will cut the prices of some models in the range by up to $9000 at the same time. The Biturbo races to 100km/h in just 5.1 seconds, a full second quicker to 100km/h than the single turbo 3.0 TDI.

Like its BMW M5 rival the high-po Audi S6 will be powered by a turbocharged V8, hoofing out 309kW and 550Nm while making a 25 per cent fuel-economy gains over the old V10. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will do the talking between the engine and the Quattro all-wheel drive system, resulting in 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds.

Eschewing AWD, both have Audi’s Multitronic CVT continuously variable transmission which sends drive to the front wheels.

Audi 2008 RS6 Audi's 426kW/650Nm twin-turbocharged direct-injection V10 RS6 wagon is expected in local showrooms in late 2008. Originally borrowed from Lamborghini's Gallardo for the S8 and S6 sedans, the force-fed V10 is Audi's answer to the M5's atmo V10.

Audi's redesigned S6 is powered by a Lamborghini-sourced direct-injection 335W/540Nm 5.2-litre V10. It makes the previous model's 250kW/420Nm 4.2-litre V8 seem downright pedestrian and propels the new S6 sedan to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds, complete with six-speed auto and quattro AWD.

Released: Nov 2003

The first examples of the ballistic RS6 sedans and wagons landed in Australia just before the 2003 Sydney motor show, complete with twin turbocharged 4.2-litre V8 producing 331kW. The first shipment of 33 cars has been sold, at a cool $219,570 for the sedan and $225,100 for the wagon.
